Balloon Adventures Shaker Birthday Card

by Joanne James11. May 2017 13:27

Apologies for my couple of blog-free days: I have had a combination of classes, preparation for a big team event at the weekend and new catalogue preparations that have simply left no time to share with you! Back to it today though with a card for this week's challenges over at As You See It and TGIF Challenge:

I took the AYSI sketch quite literally today and for my 'three of something' went with balloons and the retiring Balloon Pop-Up Thinlits Die to create a shaker, rather than a pop-up card, on this occasion using the bright colours of the TGIF palette this week:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

Balloon Adventures - Today's card is all about balloons of the party kind. The Balloon Pop-up thinlits make a great pop-up for the inside of a card, yet also work as a flat panel which, when backed with a piece of window sheet, can be transformed into a fun party shaker card. I stamped the balloons with the co-ordinating Balloon Adventures stamp set in each of the challenge colours then overlaid the corresponding diecuts. I also brushed the stamped area with my clear Wink of Stella for extra sparkle. The Balloon Adventures bundle has been very popular and I'm sad it's retiring; if you haven't got yours yet, get in quick before it's gone for good!

Shake, Shake, Shake - I filled my shaker with a combination of Emerald Envy mica flakes leftover from my Christmas projects (still available on the clearance rack), some gold sequins and a few retired in-colour sequins in Strawberry Slush for a hint of pink.

Spots and Stripes - I decided to use some in-colour Emerald Envy designer series paper for my background striped panel, to tie in with the spots and stripes theme of my balloons. I find it easier to major in on two colours to maintain a co-ordinated look with such bold colours, as I've done here with the pink and green, with the Crushed Curry sparingly on a single balloon and to decorate my envelope and the inside of my card for a pop of sunny yellow.

Here is the visual summary of the key products used on today's project for you to pin for easy reference:

You can see all of my 'How To' summaries on my 'How To - Tips and Techniques' Pinterest board in case you've missed any.

Enjoy the rest of your day and I'll be back tomorrow with another project. Until then, happy stampin'!

Circle Of Spring 3D Easel Drawer Card

by Joanne James14. April 2017 18:10

Today I'm sharing a card using this week's colours over at Color Throwdown:

These colours are so very pretty and I was also inspired by the florals to create a 3D easel drawer card today using the retiring stamp set 'Circle of Spring' - take a look:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

Circle Of Spring - I stamped the floral wreath from Circle of Spring and coloured it in with my Calypso Coral, Peekaboo Peach, So Saffron and Wild Wasabi Stampin' Write markers. I then cut it out with my Wondrous Wreath framelits and added a diecut bow too. Both the stamp set and framelits that I've used on my card today are retiring from the annual catalogue at the end of May and are available only whilst stocks last. The Circle of Spring stamp set is currently showing as low inventory, so if this is on your 'must have' list then do order as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

A Card And Gift In One - I recently made some easel drawer cards similar to this one for Mother's Day with a group of 21 Girl Guides - this stamp set also contains a 'happy Mother's Day' greeting - who had a lot of fun colouring their stamped images. They used a variety of pastel colours and they all looked so pretty when complete (it's a shame I was too busy to take a photograph of them all together - you'll have to take my word for it!) We made our cards on top so that they would open to enable a personal message to be written inside. The most exciting part though for the girls was the fact that this is a gift and card in one - the drawer pulls open to reveal 4 chocolates fitting perfectly inside:

The hardest thing for the girls was to not eat a chocolate or two whilst they were crafting!

All You Need Is A Sheet of 12" x 12" - The easel drawer card is really easy to make using just one sheet of 12" x 12". It needs to be cut as follows:

  • One piece of 6" x 6", scored at 1.5" on each side for the drawer itself
  • One piece of 3" x 10", scored at 2", 3.5", 6.5" and 8" on the long side, to form the wrap for the drawer
  • One piece of 3" x 6", scored at 3" and 4.5" on the long side, with the 3" section adhered to the top of the drawer wrap at the front and the 1.5" scored sections folded towards you like a mountain.
  • One piece of 3" x 6", scored at 3" on the long side for the card - this is adhered to the front section of the 1.5" x 3" section above (see the photo).

I hope that all makes sense - a video tutorial for another time, I think! To finish, I decorated the drawer section with co-ordinating paper from the Subtles DSP stack.

These little boxes would also make nice wedding favours - you can get two box cards out of 3 sheets of 12" x 12" cardstock so they would be pretty economical too.

Here is the visual summary of the key products used on today's project for you to pin for easy reference:

Enjoy your day and I'll be back tomorrow with another project. Until then, happy stampin'!

There are still though a number of great bargains to be had, including some of my favourites below - each of the items on the second row of the table is available at a whopping 50% off:

by Joanne James10. April 2017 19:00

I have a card to share today but first things first - the list of products that will be retiring from this year's annual and Spring-Summer seasonal catalogues has been announced! You can read the full list by clicking here; there are some tremendous bargains to be had - I will have a review of the things I am going to miss most tomorrow, however if you want to stock up on any of the retiring in-colour items, especially re-inkers, I would urge you to do that sooner rather than later as they are always the first things to sell out. Today I'm sharing a card that uses these departing in-colours - take a look:

I used Stampin' Up!'s Whisper White notelets and a bold sentiment from the 'Thankful Thoughts' stamp set, cut out using my square Stitched Shape Framelits to create an elongated rectangular panel, along with a variety of combinations of the in-colour designer series paper stacks, along with some white ribbon for a finishing touch. I made a whole collection of them in each of the retiring colours and decorated the envelope flaps to co-ordinate too. Here's a glimpse of one in each colour:

You can see all of my 'How To' summaries on my 'How To - Tips and Techniques' Pinterest board in case you've missed any.

Enjoy your day and I'll be back tomorrow with another project. Until then, happy stampin'!

2015-16 Stampin' Up! Catalogue Is Here - Today You Really Can Have It All!

by Joanne James2. June 2015 09:00

The wait is over - it's June 2nd and the new 2015-16 Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue is here! I have updated my links on the right hand side of my blog and you will find a permanent link to the new catalogue there, but for today you need look no further than the picture below which will take you straight to the new catalogue:

This is a day when you really can have it all though:

  • Today is the last day to order from the 2015 Spring-Summer Occasions Catalogue. There are lots of great products in the 2015 Occasions Catalogue that are going away after June 2.  Read my previous blog post here for the detail.
  • Today is the last day to order from the 2014-2015 Annual Catalogue.  Everything in that catalogue that isn’t carrying over to the 2015-2016 Annual Catalogue is to be found on the Retiring Lists and are available WHILE SUPPLIES LAST - today is the last day to order those items. Many of these items are discounted; there are still some bargains to be had. Check out the remaining retiring items here.
  • Today is the first day that you can order from the 2015-2016 Annual Catalogue. The new catalogue is posted above and will be permanently linked via my blog if you don’t have a paper copy. If you have your paper copy and just want to go straight to the shop to place your order, click here. Don't forget to add the hostess code for June UPCSWX2C if your order is less than £150 and ensure you are set to 'contactable' to receive a thank you in the post from me.
  • Earn Hostess Rewards under the “Old Plan”.  You may have noticed in the new catalogue that Stampin’ Up! has changed the customer rewards plan for purchases over £150.  In the new plan, now called Stampin’ Rewards, customers and hostesses can still earn free product for these larger orders.  While the total reward has decreased at each level (for example, the free product reward on a £150 order decreases from £25 to £15), the rewards are on a sliding scale that allow you to continue to earn for every £ you spend over and above £150. The aim is to make things more straight forward, but as the new plan doesn't take effect until June 3rd for today there is no change. An added benefit of Stampin' Rewards is that they can be used towards a starter kit if you choose to join Stampin' Up! as a demonstrator - making the starter kit even better value! Which brings me on to the last 'big news' item for today:
  • Earn Free Stamps in June’s Promotion for New SU! Joiners.  June 2 also kicks off a new promotion for customers to become demonstrators.  As a demonstrator on my team, you will belong to a friendly team where you get to be the first to see and order products from upcoming catalogues. You also get to earn a discount on the products you already love – with no risks or penalties if you don't meet your quarterly minimum.  Starting today when you join, you also earn two free stamp sets of your choice (they’ll be added to your starter kit). These can be any stamps at all from the new catalogue - so if you choose wisely (think alphabets and large sentiment sets!) these two stamp sets alone could be worth £60 or more. The Starter Kit is £99 for £130 of free product of your choice. My team is a mix of both hobby stampers and business demonstrators and I love and appreciate them all.  If you would like to take to me about becoming a demonstrator and joining us, please do get in touch for a no obligation chat about the benefits or call in at either of my open house events this week. Alternatively if you know this is the deal for you, don't delay and click here to join today!

That's a lot of information for one post; if I were you I would put the kettle on, put your feet up and get comfy and settle down with your new catalogue for a browse and start creating that all-important wish list!

Back tomorrow with a new project; until then, happy shopping!
