Mediterranean Moments Cafe Note Card

by Joanne James6. April 2019 21:00

I've had a busy week that's kept me away from my blog but I have managed to get lots made over the past couple of days so I should be better prepared this week! Today I'm sharing a card for the current challenge over at Just Add Ink that also uses the sketch layout at The Paper Craft Crew:

Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge PCC332

I missed playing with the ladies over at Just Add Ink last week as I just didn't manage to get my card finished and blogged (one for another time!) but as soon as I saw their inspiration photo this week I knew exactly which set I was going to use. Here's my card:

Mediterranean Moments is a stamp set that I've used many times, but not recently so it was a good opportunity to dust off this favourite from the annual catalogue and get to work. The photo reminded me of the cafe scene so this formed the basis of my main focal point, stamped on white and coloured with my Stampin' Blends. I used the PPC sketch to push me to consider a different layout to any I've used previously with this set. I did some tone-on-tone stamping using one of the other stamps in the set and embossed the main panel with a brick pattern for added texture and interest, and added a few wooden leaf embellishments from my box. I added a sentiment from Itty Bitty Greetings to finish my 'just because' note card.

Here is the visual summary of the key products used on today's project for you to pin for easy reference:

Enjoy your evening and I'll be back tomorrow with another project. Until then, happy stampin'!

Mediterranean Moments Cafe Card

by Joanne James29. January 2018 21:00

Today I'm back with an annual catalogue faithful and sharing a card I made using a set that has been sitting on my shelf rather neglected for a little while, so I thought I would remedy that and enter a couple of online challenges at the same time:

I love the CAS Colours and Sketches sketch this week and then surprised myself by choosing the colours over at Just Add Ink to go with it - take a look:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

Mediterranean Moments - Mediterranean Moments first appeared in last year's Spring-Summer seasonal catalogue and fortunately carried over into the annual catalogue. I love these sketched images, inspired by Million Sales Achiever Susan Nygaard - the one I've used today though is the only one in my set that I've never used before. When I saw this colour combination I wasn't sure what to make of it, despite the lovely design team cards, and then I was flicking through my catalogue looking for something else and suddenly there it was - I could see the green metal cafe chairs and I knew this stamp would be perfect!

A Little Watercolouring - I decided to stamp my image in Versamark and heat emboss it in white, and ring the changes with a Crumb Cake card base, then give the whole thing a wash of white craft ink before watercolouring with my greens and a little more Crumb Cake ink. This was a good way to incorporate my neutral and allow my greens to blend with each other. I hand-doodled my border using my white gel pen.

A Sentiment Combination - My sentiment combination is a trimmed stamped 'hello' from the 'oh hello' stamp in the Colour Me Happy set, along with the word 'friend' snipped from the Lovely Word Thinlits. A fun pairing that is just right for the intended recipient of my card.

This post was really meant for tomorrow but I'm putting it live early as I want to catch the CAS Colours and Sketches link up. So for Tuesday - enjoy your day and I'll be back tomorrow with another project. Until then, happy stampin'!

Mediterranean Moments #SIP103 #GDP091

by Joanne James18. June 2017 20:00

I had a little time to catch up with my crafting today whilst it was still cool in my craft room so I'm sharing another card with you that fits with the following challenges:

I don't usually combine so many challenges, but having decided on my design using the Stamps Ink Paper sketch that used the scene from the Mediterranean Moments stamp set to include my Vespa scooter 'wheels' for the Global Design Project, I changed my colour scheme at the last minute to one inspired by the photo over at Inspired By All The Little Things and did a little watercolouring - take a look:

Doesn't that vibrant Pacific Point blue really stand out against the pink? A warm, Mediterannean scene with a fun aqua scooter out front - the makings of a fun vacation, perhaps? I added my sentiment from the 'Layering Love' stamp set to finish my card.

Do check out the various challenge galleries for lots of inspiration - especially the wheely great inspiration over at GDP this week!

I'll be back tomorrow with another couple of projects. Until then, happy stampin'!

Mediterranean Moments and Easter Chick Punch Art

by Joanne James3. April 2017 08:00

I've a busy this week ahead with this month's technique classes then a trip to Amsterdam for Onstage Live with thousands of other Stampin' Up! demonstrators from across Europe for the launch of the new Stampin' Up! Annual Catalogue - a whole two months ahead of its publish date - just one of the many things I love about being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator. More of that in future posts for sure, so this is a week I have to be organised! Today I have a couple of cards to share: here is the first one for this week's challenges over at The Color Throwdown and CAS Colours and Sketches:

I love this sketch layout - perfect for a large image. I chose to use one of the sketched images from the 'Mediterranean Moments' set and unusually decided to stamp it directly onto a coloured background:

I stamped in Night of Navy rather than black and added an enamel dot to my sentiment banner, but otherwise the stamped image speaks for itself and is perfect uncoloured for a clean and simple card. I also stamped one of the other images from the Mediterranean Moments set on the inside of my card. I'm also linking this card up with the challenge over at Less Is More where the recipe this week is to use three pastel colours.

My second card today is for this week's Freshly Made Sketches challenge where the sketch was perfect for a fun Easter card idea that I had:

I saw some great Easter biscuits on Pinterest and one of them got me thinking about creating a round punch art-style chick - take a look:

I used my stitched shape circle framelit, a heart and flower framelit and the smallest shape from the Blossom Punch to create my fun chick and added a few co-ordinating strips of floral Brights designer series paper. My sentiment is from the Sale-A-Bration set 'Hey Chick' but if you don't have this you could add a 'Happy Easter' from Teeny Tiny Sentiments instead. A lighthearted clean and simple take on the sketch this week.
