Oh So Ombre Snowman Season PP524

by Joanne James17. January 2021 09:00

Today it's Sunday and time for this week's new challenge over at The Paper Players! It's the turn of the lovely Claire to host this week and she has a seasonal clean and simple  challenge for us to work with:

I used the sketch over at Global Design Project for my layout (I rotated it through 180 degrees) and was also inspired by the snowman and the blue and white winter sentiment over at Hand Stamped Sentiments this week for my clean and simple snow card - take a look:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

I used the Oh So Ombre free Sale-A-Bration paper as the base for my card and heat-embossed the cute skyward-looking snowman onto the ombre paper in white, adding a little extra white with a chalk marker. I added my sentiment, finishing with the word 'snow' made out of the Playful Alphabet letters in white and replacing the 'o' with a glittery white glimmer paper snowflake. Finally I added a sprinkling of sequins from a selection of mixes in my stash amongst the falling snow:

I think I might add this card to next year's Christmas card stash - not that it ever snows here in the UK at Christmas, much to the disappointment of the James Juniors who continue to live in hope! We had the tiniest dusting yesterday morning first thing but it didn't hang around, and we are forecast a return to drizzle and grey skies by today! Hope my little snowman brings some cheer your way in lieu of some sunshine.

Here is the visual summary of the key products used on today's project for you to pin for easy reference:

Enjoy your day; nothing much happening here this weekend as we continue to endure lockdown. I am enjoying having more time to read and build Lego and as a family we seem to have rediscovered chess this past week as we finished watching 'The Queen's Gambit' on Netflix. If you haven't seen it, I can highly recommend it. And you can't bit a game of chess for immersive distraction! I'll be back tomorrow with another project. Until then, happy stampin'!

What a great idea using the ombre paper and heat embossing the snowman.  The use of the letters and snowflake for spelling 'snow' is so clever.  You created a very unique winter scene.  Thanks for playing at Hand Stamped Sentiments.

Joanne, I love how you mixed the fine embossing with the bolder alphabet letters.  A great mix of elements that work perfectly together.  This is a happy card for sure.

What a wonderful clean and simple card, Joanne! I LOVE the bold die cut sentiment with the snowflake "O".  You are so creative! I always look at your cards, and say to myself, "Now why didn't I think of that?" Have a wonderful week!

Joanne,  this is just fabulous!  I love the ombre paper and you know turquoise is a favorite of mine!  The bold die cut sentiment is fantastic, too!  Your embossed snowman is so happy spreading those glorious sequins in the air.  You certainly made my challenge shine!  Have a lovely week, My Friend!

I love the look of this single color design!  The snowflake for the 'o' is fab and so are the little sequins your snowman is tossing!  And kudos for getting 3 challenges knocked off with this design!  Rock star!  Have a great week!

He looks to be having an absolute ball, juggling those sequins and kicking up the snow. Great idea to emboss directly onto the paper and I like the way you've subverted what I always think of as a summer colour into a winter wonderland.

I would like to know if there is anyone out there that can't smile at this snowman stamp! He just makes my day brighter every time I see him. Love the way you incorporated the letters too! Have a great day!

Joanne, such a happy card.  I love the way you used the sentiment strip as a way to anchor your snowman and I also love how you placed the sequins - he really looks as though he is juggling his shiny snowballs.  Fabulous card

Love the embossed snowman on the ombre paper.  Very clever.  Those sequins add just the right amount of sparkle.  Glad you played along with us at Hand Stamped Sentiments.
