Long Time No See Halloween Costumes PP758

by Joanne James5. October 2025 08:00

Today it's Sunday and time for this week's new challenge over at The Paper Players! It's the turn of the fabulous Claire to host this week and she has a fun theme challenge for us to work with:

Halloween costumes - hmmm. This week's challenge really was just that; I don't have any current stamp sets or retired ones featuring Halloween costumes, so it was time to get creative! I took my inspiration from the photo in the middle of the top row on our challenge badge this week - a dog dressed as a ghost and grabbed the 'Long Time No See' stamp set to see if I could create something similar. Take a look at what I came up with:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

I used both the llama and the sausage dog (reverse stamping one so that he faced in the opposite direction) and decided to use their striped clothes to dress each animal in his own Halloween costume. Can you guess what they all are? I added a hat and spectacles and with the red and white sweater, the llama is dressed as Wally/Waldo of 'Where's Wally?' fame. The sausage dogs are a bumble bee (complete with deely bopper antennae although missing his wings - a post photo oversight) and a bank robber (complete with eye mask) respectively. I showed each of them peeking through the diecut letters of the word BOO! and added some stamped images from the retired 'Spooky Fun' stamp set to add to the Halloween feel. Aren't these two cute?

So what do you think? Did I manage to mee the challenge brief this week? I'm looking forward to seeing what you make for our gallery this week.

Here is the visual summary of the key products used on today's project for you to pin for easy reference:

Before you reach for your ink and papers, check out what our amazing team has created to inspire you this week:

Here's a quick recap of our challenge rules:

1.  Create a new paper project
2.  Upload your creation to your blog with a link back to us and provide a direct link to the post featuring your challenge submission.
3.  Please link your card to no more than four challenges, TOTAL.
4.  Have FUN!

Enjoy your day; yesterday was the DH's birthday and we travelled across country to visit the James Junior and take him out for lunch, which was fun. Today we are out Nordic walking; we were supposed to be paddle boarding to the Burrito Boat restaurant again, but Storm Amy put paid to that! I'll be back tomorrow with another project. Until then, happy stampin'!

You nailed it, Joanne! I knew immediately who/what these little cuties were representing. You are SO creative. Of course, dog lover that I am, I LOVE this card. Now I regret that I didn't buy this set. Have a wonderful week!

Okay this is my FAVORITE card!!! I love how you did the costumes and yes, I recognized Waldo the llama and those two sausage dogs are the cutest things ever.  My girl Sadie had a bee costume one year because I called her Sadie Bee (and our boy dog Vader was a ladybug/ladybird!).  I really love that you called the antennae deely boppers because so do I.  We got our pupster Daphne right after Halloween last year so this will be the first time I try dressing her up...I imagine she is going to have Opinions about costumes!

Joanne, this is the most creative card of the week!  Oh my word, I LOVE it so much!  Those little wiener dogs and that Where's Waldo Llama steal the show!   I love how they are peeking out of the BOO sentiment, too!  YOU made my challenge shine!  Have a great week, My Friend!

Clever, clever you! This is such a creative use of the alphabet dies. The llama is such a hoot, as is the dog turned into a bee!

What a cute, clever card....so many fun things to look at and marvel about!  Just adorable, I love all those wee little critters, but the little ghosties in the background--they take the cake!

I'm so impressed with your creativity Joanne!!!  It's so fun, with the critters popping out of the large alpha letters and then all the little spooky stuff in the background.  Just perfect and I LOVE it!
