Birthday Textured Florals For PP661

by Joanne James8. October 2023 08:00

Today it's Sunday and time for this week's new challenge over at The Paper Players! It's the turn of the fabulous LeAnne to host this week and she has a colour challenge for us to work with:

These colours immediately made me think 'Halloween', but I really didn't want to make a Halloween card - so I challenged myself to make something floral! I'm using this week's Global Design Project #GDP414 sketch for my layout and this is also my entry for this month's Flower Challenge of 'anything goes' - and since they are celebrating their 7th birthday, I went with a birthday theme too. This is what I came up with:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

I decided to use the Textured Floral bundle on my card. I stamped a selection of blooms in Highland Heather and Pumpkin Pie, stamping off the larger flowers once, and leaves in Old Olive, diecut them and used them to frame my aperture that I'd cut out using the largest circle in my Stylish Shapes Dies. I added a piece of black and white Zoo Crew designer paper inside my aperture, along with some additional black diecut foliage, a heat-embossed black and white sentiment and a large black and white gingham bow to finish:

I think the black and white elements balance the colours and whilst adding a touch of drama make my card look less Halloween-y. What do you think? Do leave me a comment below - I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Here is the visual summary of the key products used on today's project for you to pin for easy reference:

You can see all of my Product and 'How To' summaries on my 'How To - Tips and Techniques' Pinterest board in case you've missed any.

Here's a quick recap of our challenge rules:

1.  Create a new paper project
2.  Upload your creation to your blog with a link back to us and provide a direct link to the post featuring your challenge submission.
3.  Please link your card to no more than four challenges, TOTAL.
4.  Have FUN!

Enjoy your day; I'm hoping to get out into the garden today and get some jobs done and make the most of the unusually warm weather we are having for the last couple of days. I'll be back tomorrow with another project. Until then, happy stampin'!

Wonderful job combining all of the challenges on this. The textured floral bundle might need to come to live at my house now. Thanks for sharing this over at The Flower Challenge.

Joanne, Your card is just beautiful. I love the way you incorporated the back and white elements. I have to admit I struggle with this stamp set, I have only used it once, your pretty card makes me want to pull it out and play some more.

Beautiful, Joanne! What a wonderful layout that works so well with the floral array you have stamped! I love that you used these Halloween colors in a non-Halloween way. You rocked the challenges this week for sure!

Very pretty, Joanne! I particularly like your embellishments - the black enamel dots and black and white taffeta bow - perfect!

The Stylish Shapes aperture is, well... stylish! That stitced detailing is great. I really like the many touches of black you've added as it has really taken the saccharine out of the other colours and somehow made them more elegant. Great job!

Well, my friend, you certainly know how ro compose a wonderful floral spray and it looks just gorgeous around the die cut circle. Using the black elements heightens the wow factor to your stunning design. I am totally swooning over your card, Joanne and I'm so glad you decided to share with us at The Flower Challenge!
