It's Wednesday and you know what that means: a new collection of Wednesday Weekly Deals! These offers are valid for one week only. As always, a new collection of deals will be announced next Wednesday.

If you want to take advantage of any of the deals on offer, you can support my business by placing your order online by clicking here or using the link to my store on the right hand side of my blog page where it says 'Shop Online' or with me in person. Don't forget to add the new Hostess Code for October 9JGQEYWJ if your order is under £150 and be sure to make sure that you don't check the 'no contact' box if you'd like to be kept updated with the progress of you order and receive a little thank you in the post from me.

Only three offers this week, but good ones nonetheless! My favourite would have to be the Cupcake Builder Punch - a 'storecupboard staple' of the punch collection and one that can be used for lots more besides (think clouds, handbags, ice creams ...). Also the Six-Sided Sampler set is a great set for all you quilters out there!

Back later with today's creative project; until then, happy shopping!

Springtime Hello Friend

by Joanne James7. June 2014 20:55

Today I'm sharing the original card I designed for this week's challenge over at The Card Concept, which I also adapted for my Springtime Hello card class this week. Here is this week's challenge colour palette:

This card is quite different to my previous entry (you can see that card here); much more 'Classy and Elegant' this time around I think - here's my card:

I used Daffodil Delight for my card base and layered up from there. I dry embossed a piece of Basic Black cardstock with the Honeycomb embossing folder, then layered my main stamped panel onto this. I repeat-stamped the daisy stamp from the 'Springtime Hello' onto a piece of Watercolour Wonder DSP so that the panel would have a lovely washed background, and also stamped the text stamp from the retired 'French Foliage' set in Smoky Slate behind this, having stamped off twice first to give a very faint image. You could substitute this stamp with one from the 'Background Borders' set, which is currently reduced and still available on the retired list. I then stamped the bee and using my aquapainter, I washed white kraft ink over the bee's wings and the daisy flower petals to give a subtle hint of natural colour, whilst allowing the yellow of the DSP to show through. I finished with a piece of Basic Black 3/4" Chevron ribbon and heat embossed my sentiment fro the Six Sided Sampler set in black embossing powder onto a punched hexagon and popped it onto a dimensional.

I hope you like today's card; back tomorrow with another project. Until then, happy stampin'!

Blue Hexagon Quilt Card

by Joanne James27. April 2014 21:35

Good evening lovely blog readers! I hope you have all had enjoyable weekends; mine has been pretty good, with the final finishing touches to Ben's Lego bedroom, a little crafting and even a bike ride in between the showers today. More on the bedroom later, but for now today's card is my entry for this week's Colour Me Card Challenge, where there is lovely colour palette of blues on the menu:

For today's card, I also took my inspiration from the picture of the cotton reels and went with a sewing-themed card - here it is:

The Six-Sided Sampler set has always reminded me of quilts - the hexagon pattern has to be one of the most popular quilting shapes, or at least one of the most iconic to me. I decided the colour palette would lend itself to a quilt, so set about laying out mine. I stamped from top and bottom opposing corners - my stamp-a-ma-jig was invaluable in getting them all aligned - and stamped my sentiment in the centre in Pacific Point. For fun, I also added a needle threaded with Pacific Point stamped from a retired set called 'Hoop La', just to add to the 'stitched' effect.

Just before I go, I wanted to share with you some of the photos of Ben's Lego-themed bedroom, featuring Lego City Firemen (of course!) - he chose a three colour wall combination, but the most fun was in customising the decoration, all of which were inspired by various photos on Pinterest:

The letter 'B' is my favourite - the windmill rotates, the wheels turn and the firemen and surface bricks can all be changed out as desired. Working wall art - how cool is that?!

Back tomorrow with something very exciting that you are not going to want to miss!! Until then, happy stampin'!
