Sweets And Treats Christmas Pudding Card

by Joanne James29. November 2021 07:00

Happy Monday everyone! Today I'm sharing a card using Jen B's fabulous sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches that was also inspired by the colours of the festive photo over at Inspired By:

I loved Jen's sketch and combined with the red, green and brown of the Inspired By photo it was perfect for me to use two things in my crafting stash from the current mini catalogue that have yet to see ink - take a look:

 Here's the low-down on today's card:

Sweets & Treats - The minute I saw Jen's sketch I knew that it would be a great opportunity for me to ink up the Christmas pudding in the 'Sweets & Treats' stamp set. I bought this set for this very stamp! A Christmas or 'plum' pudding is a quintessentially British festive tradition dating back to medieval times; I coloured mine with my Stampin' Blends and fussy cut it and positioned it over a strip of Heartwarming Hugs DSP with a stitched scalloped edge. I used the same stamp set to add a festive cupcake to the inside of my card too:

A Merry Melody - The Merry Melody Embossing Folder was another of those items that made it into my pre-order basket but I have yet to use. I thought it would make a fun background for my Christmas pudding (I am hearing a chorus of 'So bring us some figgy pudding...' as I type!) - you can see the texture in more detail below - I blended some ink around the edges with a blender brush to accentuate the detail:

A fussy cut heat-embossed sentiment completes my card.

The Pudding Club - I decided I liked this card so much, I'd make another one in the same style but using Cinnamon Cider instead of Soft Suede for my background:

What do you think? Which card do you prefer? I think on balance I prefer my original version; do leave me a comment below - I'd love to hear your thoughts! You can see them next to each other further down this post for comparison.

Heartwarming Hugs With Peace and Joy For Christmas

by Joanne James5. December 2020 22:16

Today I have a quick post with the a card for the current colour challenge over at Just Add Ink:

These colours have featured in a few of my projects as they are all in the Heartwarming Hugs designer series paper (and you all know how much I love designer series paper!) this card is one I designed for a class featuring the Peace and Joy bundle - take a look:

 Here's the low-down on today's card:

I layered a trio of banners of DSP onto a stitched rectangle, then added some Real Red sheer ribbon and sprig punch greenery behind my focal point sentiment, with a little stamping on the inside to finish:

Heartwarming Hugs Suite - From CAS Card to Hot Chocolate Gift Carrier!

by Joanne James2. November 2020 18:30

Happy Monday everyone! My week has started at full speed as usual but I'm here today with two projects that are both quite different that feature projects from the Heartwarming Hugs Suite. First up is a clean and simple card using the colours over at Just Add Ink this week (thank you ladies for selecting my candle card as a winner for the 'Just Add Two' challenge last week!) and this week's sketch layout over at CAS Colours and Sketches where they have a great sketch requiring a small, repeating image of some kind:

I decided to go with the coffee cup in the Warm Hugs stamp set and paired it with a sentiment from the same set that I've been wanting to use for a while - take a look:

The sentiment is quite long so I turned my card to make use of a wider card front, and having stamped my mugs in alternating colours, I added a sentiment across the central row that I heat-embossed in silver on vellum so that it didn't totally obscure the mugs. I also added small rhinestones to the top and bottom row of mugs for a little added silver sparkle:

Finally some stamping to decorate the envelope and inside my card to finish:

The 'Warm Hugs' stamp set is part of the Heartwarming Hugs Suite which includes lots of fun items and packaging ideas, including mini coffee cups and carriers. I made a few hot chocolate sets to share with some of my lovely customers as gifts recently using the items in the suite and decorated the cups and carriers with some of the papers in the Heartwarming Hugs designer paper pack, with a hot chocolate-filled cup and a bag of marshmallows to go with them and this seemed like a good opportunity to share a project that shows how easy it is to create a heartfelt yet relatively inexpensive gift to share with someone. Here's a close up of my completed carrier:

And here's a photo showing the detail on my decorated hot-chocolate themed cup:

I love the traditional colours that feature in this suite - isn't the dressed mug just adorable?! The textured coffee collar and sentiment added to the cup adds a nice personal touch I think. I'm linking this project up over at Color Throwdown where they are featuring the exact palette of kraft, reds and greens that feature on my decorated cup and gingham carrier.

Everyone that I've given one of these to so far has loved them - I'm thinking of making them for my UPS delivery driver and postman too, for them to take home for a warming drink after their rounds! Who would you give one to?

Enjoy your evening and I'll be back tomorrow with another project and news of two fabulous new launches: the new Paper Pumpkin kit and the Curvy Celebrations bundle! Until then, happy stampin'!

Holly Jolly Gnome For The Holidays TTT80

by Joanne James3. September 2020 18:00

It's Thursday and time for a new challenge over at TicTacToe! It's the turn of Team X to host this week and the lovely Shannon is our featured designer this week. This is the fun board that we are playing along with:

I went on the diagonal down from the top left square with stripes, colouring and gnome for a cute Christmas card - take a look:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

Gnome For The Holidays - I stamped and coloured one of the cute gnomes from the 'Gnome For The Holidays' stamp set as the centrepiece for my card today. Gnomes are so on trend at the moment, I couldn't wait to get my hands on this set - they are so adorable and make for a cute card for the festive season!

Heartwarming Stripes - My gnome has a stripy hat and stripy socks and I also added a strip of Heartwarming Hugs Designer Series Paper to my card and used this as the basis for my colour scheme.

Don't Forget The Inside - I did a little extra colouring on the inside of my card too, with this cute little gnome home for some extra decoration:

I'm linking today's card over at Time Out Challenges, where the theme is 'season', with the optional twist of colouring.

Here is the visual summary of the key products used on today's project for you to pin for easy reference:

You can see all of my Product and 'How To' summaries on my 'How To - Tips and Techniques' Pinterest board in case you've missed any.

A tictactoe board offers so many creative possibilities - how does this week's board inspire you? Why not have a go? We would love to see you in the gallery and who knows - you might be selected for Designer's Choice and be eligible to be a guest designer on a future challenge.

Enjoy your evening; I'll be back tomorrow with another project. Until then, happy stampin'!
