Simply Fabulous Butterfly Kisses Card TTT170

by Joanne James14. July 2022 15:00

It's Thursday and time for a new challenge over at TicTacToe! It's the turn of Team X to host this week and the lovely Vicky is our featured designer this week. This is the fun board that we are playing along with:

I used the sketch layout over at TGIF Challenges and went across the top row of our board with Clean And Simple (CAS), Bright Colours and Butterfly - take a look:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

I still had the Butterfly Kisses papers, the Build A Butterfly Dies and 'Simply Fabulous' stamp set out on my desk having made this card so thought I would change things up in terms of colour scheme with a pop of bright blue Starry Sky cardstock for my card base, a larger-than-life sentiment and a super-bright Parakeet Party butterfly:

I also added a couple of (retired) in colour flower embellishments to pick up the Fresh Freesia colour. Easy as that!

Here is the visual summary of the key products used on today's project for you to pin for easy reference:

You can see all of my Product and 'How To' summaries on my 'How To - Tips and Techniques' Pinterest board in case you've missed any.

A tictactoe board offers so many creative possibilities - how does this week's board inspire you? Why not have a go? We would love to see you in the gallery and who knows - you might be selected for Designer's Choice and be eligible to be a guest designer on a future challenge.

Enjoy your day; I am enjoying the slightly cooler weather today and making the most of it before things really hot up from tomorrow. I'll be back tomorrow with another pair of projects for our new challenge over at As You See It. Until then, happy stampin'!

Build A Butterfly Clean And Simple Birthday Card CCS 478

by Joanne James12. July 2022 12:00

It's Tuesday and time for a new challenge over at CAS Colours & SketchesThis week's challenge is a sketch challenge and Patricia has asked us to create something with the layout below. Feel free to flip or rotate the sketch when making your card.

For my card today I decided to go for a clean and simple birthday card with a pop of bright colour courtesy of the Butterfly Kisses designer paper - take a look:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

I added a piece of Butterfly Kisses designer paper to my card base, then overlaid the front section with a piece of Basic White cardstock that I cut with one of my Basic Borders Dies to give it the curve of the sketch. To this I added a butterfly cut with one of the Build A  Butterfly Dies and a sentiment from the 'Simply Fabulous' stamp set. I did add my sentiment to the lower portion of my card rather than where it was suggested on the sketch as I wanted it to stand out better and not get lost in the pattern of the paper. I also added a greeting and small decoration from the same stamp set to the inside of my card:

I chose two of the colours that feature in the paper for my sentiment and butterfly respectively to give the whole thing a sense of cohesiveness. One of those cards that is simple and yet so effective I think:

A great sketch too with loads of creative possibilities. Looking forward to see what's in the gallery this week!

For The Record Birthday Card FF111

by Joanne James10. June 2022 09:00

Today I have my card for the new challenge over at Festive Friday.

The challenge that we are celebrating this week is 'World Music Day' which is on June 21st. Remember the fun thing is that at Festive Friday you do not need to actually celebrate the occasion; your goal is to simply use three or more items from the inspiration list on your project. This week I totally got on board with the theme! I live in a household of music-makers and used music notes, black, white, embossing and circles and using the current layout over at Try Stamping on Tuesday this is what I came up with:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

For The Record - 'For The Record' is a great set for music lovers! The vinyl record makes for a great centrepiece for any card and the variety of sentiments mean that it can be used for lots of different occasions too. In addition to the record on the front of my card, I added a trio of brightly coloured records to both the inside and my envelope to decorate - here you can also see one of the sentiments in this set:

An Embossing Double - I have both wet and dry embossing on my card: I heat-embossed my sentiment and vinyl record for added shine to highlight the groove detail and added a dry embossed background layer of notes and sheet music using my Merry Melody Embossing folder:

The challenge over at The Alphabet Challenge Blog is 'E is for Embossing' this week so I'll be joining in with my card there too.

An Unexpected Find - Did you recognise the designer paper I used on my card today? It's actually taken from the new 'Butterfly Kisses' paper pack. The stripes in the design are diagonal, but I cut the sheet at an angle (you can see it in the photo at the bottom of the post) and then cut the lines at different heights - I thought it looked like the outputs on a sound mixing desk and it was a great way to add a pop of bright colour to my music-themed card. What do you think - does it work? I'd love to know your thoughts - please do leave me a comment below!

I hope you like today's card - if you are considering adding the 'For The Record' stamp set to your collection, you only have until the end of the month to do so before it retires for good. The good news is that it is currently available as part of the Last Chance Promotion at 50% off for just £10.50 - bargain!

Simply Fabulous Butterfly Kisses PP592

by Joanne James22. May 2022 08:00

Today it's Sunday and time for this week's new challenge over at The Paper Players! It's the turn of the fabulous LeAnne to host this week and she has my favourite, a sketch challenge for you to work with:

I went simple and bright with today's card and used it as an opportunity to play with some new products - take a look:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

Butterfly Kisses - Today's card is all about the patterned paper! I used both a panel of dotted paper and a trio of butterflies that I fussy-cut from a sheet of Butterfly Kisses designer series paper. From the all-occasion Butterfly Kisses Suite, this pretty paper is full of bold colours and patterns - just my kind of thing. The Build A Butterfly Dies co-ordinate with the paper but the butterflies are super-easy to fussy cut by hand too:

New In Colours - The Butterfly Kisses papers feature two of the new in-colours - Parakeet Party and Starry Sky - and I chose to zone in on both of those on today's card. I love the fresh zing of Parakeet Party green and the darker Starry Sky blue compliments it beautifully. I also stamped some tone-on-tone flowers across my blue strip for a little extra detail.

Simply Fabulous - The sentiment on my card is from the 'Simply Fabulous' stamp set. I added another from the set to the inside of my card, along with some of the butterflies from the edge of the DSP pack to decorate:

This was a really easy card to create and is so cheery - I can't wait to make more! It's also perfect for this week's bug-themed challenge over at Global Design Project #GDP343 this week and over at SUO Challenges where they are celebrating birthdays.
