New Stitched Shapes Framelits and 25% Off Stamp Sets

by Joanne James1. November 2016 07:00

I'm back today with some great news for the start of November: from today we have the early release of a new product from the 2017-18 annual catalogue, Stitched Shapes Framelits, and a product promotion!

StitchFramelit_DemoHeader_SPUK

A Great New Product

Let’s start with the Framelits: the Stitched Shapes Framelits Dies are a set of 12 dies that include four circles, four ovals and four squares that coordinate with our Layering Circles, Ovals and Squares.  Brilliant!

These new dies are available for purchase beginning November 1 – that’s today!

So, what makes these Framelits a necessity?  When run through the Big Shot, these dies leave a detailed stitch around the edge of the Framelit.  The stitched look is so on-trend right now and will add a great extra touch to your stamped projects. Here’s a video with details about the new dies and some great project ideas:

Aren't they great? You are definitely going to want to add these to your framelit collection.

Here are the measurements for these new shapes:

Circles:  1-3/8″, 1-7/8″, 2-3/8″, 2-7/8″

Squares: 1-3/16″, 1-5/8″, 2-1/8″, 2-5/8″

Ovals: 1-3/4″ x 13/16″, 2-1/4″ x 1-5/16″, 2-3/4″ x 1-13/16″, 3-1/4″ x 2-5/16″

25% Off Selected Stamp Sets

What's more, there's a promotion to run alongside the launch of these new framelits too! As if the new Stitched Shapes Dies weren’t great enough…there is also a long list of stamp sets from the Autumn-Winter Catalogue and Annual Catalogue are available for 25% off during November.  Yes, you heard it - 25% OFF! here's the complete list:

Right - I'm off to put in my order for these fabulous new framelits and then get on with my busy day of back-to-back classes. I will be back later with today's project blog post; until then, happy shopping! Oh and don't forget to use this month's hostess code SQN297RD when placing your order online to get a little thank you in the post from me!

Blooms and Wishes Best Wishes Card

by Joanne James26. July 2016 07:00

There are some great sketches out in blog land this week and for my card today I was inspired by this rather lovely one from the team over at the As You See It Challenge:

AYSI #139

I saw those flowers and thought it was the perfect opportunity to get out my Blooms and Wishes stamp set for some 'random' stamping - take a look:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

Blooms and Bliss Colour Combo - The trio of colours I chose for my card today all appear in the Blooms and Bliss Suite and in particular the designer series paper of the same name, so I was drawn here for the colour scheme for my card. Again I chose to use a bold, patterned base for my card rather than one of the floral papers; it's is great for a background as it doesn't interfere with the detail of the focal image and the watercolour-like flecking adds a softness to this otherwise strong colour. Here is my colour combination today in case it's one you would like to save for use at a future date:

Blooms and Wishes - I stamped my floral panel using the sketch as a guide and using the co-ordinating Blooms & Wishes stamp set to create an almost watercoloured effect. I used a combination of both first and second generation stamping for the colours to add depth and overlapped the flowers slightly too, finishing some with pearls and fussy cutting a single flower and centre to anchor my sentiment panel.

Sugarplum Bow - I added a single bow out of 3/8" Ruched Ribbon in Sweet Sugarplum as per the sketch; I was a little unsure about this act of randomness, but I think it works. One thing is for sure - this ribbon is gorgeous with a wonderful texture and makes bow tying a doddle!

Enjoy your day and I'll be back tomorrow with another card - this time for Christmas (it pays to be organised!); until then, happy stampin'!

Blooms and Wishes For The Paper Players

by Joanne James10. July 2016 10:00

It's Sunday and time for a new challenge over at The Paper Players! It's the turn of our fearless leader the awesome Nance to host this week and she has a colour challenge for us to play along with:

For my card this week I decided to use this week's Freshly Made Sketches sketch and took my inspiration from the Blooms and Bliss suite to create my card today:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

Blooms and Bliss Colour Combo - The trio of colours chosen by Nance for today's challenge all appear in the Blooms and Bliss Suite and in particular the designer series paper of the same name, so I was drawn here for the starting point for today's card. Having ooh-ed and ahh-ed at the whimsical floral patterned papers, I eventually settled upon this rather bold, mostly Island Indigo, patterned paper for the base of my card. This pattern is great for a background as it doesn't interfere with the detail of the focal image and the watercolour-like flecking adds a softness to this otherwise strong colour.

Blooms and Wishes - I decided to create a randomly stamped floral panel as the focal point for my card, featuring each of the challenge colours and using the co-ordinating Blooms & Wishes stamp set to create an almost watercoloured effect. I used a combination of both first and second generation stamping for each of the colours to add depth and overlapped the flowers slightly too. This is the only place where there is any Sweet Sugarplum on my card, yet it performs an important role: without it the card would be perfectly co-ordinated, but rather flat. The addition of the warm lilac tones prevents this card from being too 'cold' and clinical I think. I finished with my sentiment stamped in Island Indigo onto Mint Macaron cardstock, for an additional burst of strong colour.

A Simple Oval - I don't use ovals all that often on my cards, but since the sketch asked for one here I thought I would follow it literally and do think it makes a pleasant change from squares or circles and is the perfect shape for my florals. I left it frameless to enable the white to really stand out against the background and added nothing more than a few pearls for a subtle embellishment.

The Blooms and Bliss suite is such a pretty set of co-ordinating products, with plenty of scope for artistic expression.
