by Joanne James23. March 2023 14:42Today I'm sharing a card that uses one of the current Try Stamping on Tuesday layouts (love the layering on this one!) that was inspired by the fabulous mood board over at Just Us Girls this week:
Yellow is one of my favourite colours and I couldn't pass up that sunny, sunshine-filled board! I decided to go with the lemons as my inspiration, but I really liked the green and yellow chalks in the photo next to it too, so decided that instead of another Sweet Citrus creation, I would showcase some of the lovely white, green and yellow lemon paper from the Tea Boutique pack - take a look:
Here's the low-down on today's card:
These papers were great for the split panels and I combined a partial stamped sentiment from the 'Sweet Citrus' stamp set with the large diecut from the Sending Dies:
I did add a lemon segment and flower that I stamped, diecut and embossed with the 'Sweet Citrus' bundle (well, I couldn't not use it at all!!) and a ribbon tied with twine for a final embellishment.
Here is the visual summary of the key products used on today's project for you to pin for easy reference:

Enjoy your day; I have the youngest of the James Juniors at home today having been blessed with a stinker of a cold from a generous classmate, so some of are feeling very sorry for ourselves! He definitely needs a squeeze or two and some hot lemon today! Me? I'm cracking on with some crafting in the peace and quiet and hoping he isn't quite as generous in sharing his germs with me! I'll be back tomorrow with another project. Until then, happy stampin'!

by Joanne James27. January 2023 12:00Today I'm sharing my design team card for our new challenge over at As you See It where it's time for a colour challenge, chosen by me:
I love this colour combo, but when I saw the fabulous creations by the rest of the team I did wonder if my creation truly did them justice! I went for another Valentine's card - inspired by the words over at Time Out and perfect for the challenge over at Paper Craft Crew where I haven't played for a while and love is in the air too - and created another card for someone I love; take a look:
Here's the low-down on today's card:
I went with a skinny diecut sentiment courtesy of the Love For You Dies and allowed it to overhang my diecut circle, and decorated the edge with a selection of hearts and flowers stamped and cut from the same bundle. I thought the blues were a nice contrast to the pinks and great for a not-too-girly Valentine's or anniversary card; I added some of the new Essentials Enamel Dots in Night of Navy to the centre of my flowers for added embellishment:
For my card base I used one of the Tea Boutique pre-printed notelets in Turquoise Tide - I love the faux-texture of the finish on this paper. The same pattern can be found in the Tea Boutique DSP pack too if you wanted to make your own base.
I really love the combination of these colours and can't wait to see what everyone does with them for this challenge!

You can see all of my 'How To' summaries on my 'How To - Tips and Techniques' Pinterest board in case you've missed any.
Here's a summary of our challenge rules:
- Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging project that fits the challenge.
- Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we can leave you lots of lovely comments. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use #AYSIXXX when uploading to a public gallery.
- If you’re unsure about ‘the rules’, check the details under the Challenge Guidelines tab on the As You See It Challenge homepage.
- In a colour challenge, black or other neutral can be used in outlines and sentiments but no other colours should be included. Stampin’ Up colours are used for reference but colours that are a close match are welcome.
We look forward to seeing your creations in the AYSI gallery.
Enjoy your day and I'll be back tomorrow with another project. Until then, happy stampin'!

by Joanne James24. May 2022 12:00It's Tuesday and time for a new challenge over at CAS Colours & Sketches. This week's challenge is a sketch challenge and Shannon has asked that we include a trio of any type of shape, surrounding a sentiment. Feel free to flip or rotate the sketch when making your card.
For my card today I decided to get fussy cutting for those three shapes on Shannon's sketch and I reached for my Tea Boutique papers and a couple of designs in particular that were inspired by the gorgeous pinky-reds and blues over at Sunday Stamps - take a look:
Here's the low-down on today's card:
I love the colour combinations in the Tea Boutique papers and decided to choose one panel for a background to 'frame' my white space in the centre and from another sheet I fussy cut a trio of teapots for my three shapes. Now I know fussy cutting isn't for everyone and these are a little fiddly, especially if you cut out the handle piece, but I find cutting quite relaxing and quite enjoyed choosing my pot designs and then cutting them out:
I allowed the handles of my teapots to overhang the white panel, with the thin white border around them helping them to stand out from the background. I added a little stamped tag for my sentiment, tied with some of the new Starry Sky in-color baker's twine. This is a little fussy for a CAS card and in hindsight I maybe should have stamped my sentiment straight onto the white panel, but it's done now so too late - and I like it! :-)

So no need to hoard that new designer series paper - this is my call to 'get snipping'!
Enjoy your day and I'll be back tomorrow with another project. Until then, happy stampin'!
