by Joanne James27. February 2020 09:00Today I'm sharing a card that was inspired by the current challenge over at Fusion:
I love the sketch but was also unusually (for me) inspired by the photo and all those neutrals as well this week. It's also a great opportunity to link up with the gals over at Retro Rubber too as their theme is 'anything goes' and I am giving an old stamp set some love - take a look at what I came up with:
Here's the low-down on today's card:
I used a whole bunch of retired product on today's card; I still had these neutral 'Go Wild' designer papers left out on my desk from my card yesterday, and thought they would make a great background for my shelf of knick-knacks. I used two contrasting papers with the same design and split the mats to compliment each one. I like the contrast, but it does give this card something of a 'magic eye' effect I think! I used my retired 'Bookcase Builder' stamp set for my shelf with a mixture of various bits and pieces (this set dates back to the Spring 2017 seasonal catalogue), keeping in with the neutral colour scheme. I decided to leave off a sentiment as my cardfront was busy enough and I will probably use this card as a notecard to write a letter in, so it is ok without.
Here is the visual summary of the key products used on today's project for you to pin for easy reference:

Enjoy your day and I'll be back tomorrow with another project for this week's new challenge over at As You See It. Until then, happy stampin'!

by Joanne James29. April 2019 19:15Just a quick creative post from me today following on from my earlier share about the 'Everything Is Rosy' limited edition product medley that is coming later in the week (you can read all about that here if you missed it). I'm sharing a quick card that I made at the weekend that was initially inspired by last week's CASology challenge theme of 'Africa' (now closed but you can check out their amazing gallery here) that inspired me to use up some of my epic stash of retired designer series papers with this rather intriguing sketch from the CAS Colours and Sketches team:
So here is my card:
A selection of 'Go Wild' retired animal print papers, inset beneath a trio of apertures cut using my rectangle stitched framelits dies and a sentiment from the retiring 'A Little Wild' stamp set - that's all there is to it! It definitely felt good to use up some of those retired papers too.
I'm also linking up my clean and simple card with the team over at Addicted To CAS where their current theme is 'contrast' and I think my varied animal skin-inspired prints are definitely that!
Here is the visual summary of the key products used on today's project for you to pin for easy reference:

I'll be back tomorrow with another project and compared to today's you might need sunglasses for it - bright is the word! Until then, happy stampin'!

by Joanne James30. January 2016 08:50It's Sunday and time for a new challenge over at The Paper Players! This week it is the turn of the sweet Jaydee to host and she has a tic-tac-toe for you to play along with:
When I was considering which squares to use to create my card, I noticed that none of the other girls on the team had used purple. This is one of my favourite colours, so I decided to use this as my starting point. I was also drawn to the black and white striped background and central focal image of Connie Collins' card for 'Case The Designer' over at The Global Design Project, so wanted to combine the two. I settled on the top row - flowers, bling, purple - for my card today:
My background paper is from the 'Go Wild' paper stack - these papers are not just great for animal prints! I used a trio of purples for my flowers, die cut using the Botanical Builder Framelits Dies, and I used them to frame my birthday sentiment from the Tin of Cards stamp set - I just love the fonts in this set. My 'bling' is in the form of a liberal dose of Wink of Stella on my main flower and a scattering of rhinestones across my card.
Before you reach for your ink and papers, check out what our amazing team has created to inspire you this week:
The Paper Players Design Team
Here's a quick recap of our challenge rules:
1. Create a new paper project
2. Upload your creation to your blog with a link back to us and provide a direct link to the post featuring your challenge submission.
3. Please link your card to no more than four challenges, TOTAL.
4. Have FUN!
I look forward to seeing what you create with this week's tic-tac-toe challenge - so many creative possibilities! Rebecca is playing in a hockey tournament today so I shall be wrapped up warm with a mug of tea in hand as I watch and hoping for a little craft time this afternoon. Enjoy your Sunday however you are spending it!
Back tomorrow with another project; until then, happy stampin'!

by Joanne James15. July 2015 22:15A quick card today just in time for this week's sketch over at TGIF Challenge and also using the fun challenge over at Can You Case It? this week where you have to use black, white and one other colour:
I really like this sketch and haven't used a tag on a card in ages and when I saw the CYCI challenge I thought this would give me a great opportunity to break open my new 'Go Wild' DSP stack - here's my card:
I used Melon Mambo as my feature colour for the mat to frame the amazing zebra print paper, for my die cut sentiment and a pop of colour with the circle, cotton ribbon and the hearts (courtesy of my owl punch) floating up from my stamped zebra from the 'Zoo Babies' set. I used the ornate tag topper punch for my tag, cutting twice and layering one white on black for emphasis. I designed this card as a modern 'new baby' card, and was going to finish my 'hello' with 'sweet baby' stamped inside, but this was vetoed by everyone else in my household, all of whom liked the card but did not consider it suitable to welcome a baby - so a funky hello card it is then!
Back tomorrow with a new challenge over at Create With Connie and Mary; until then, happy stampin'!
