Floral Squares Autumn Quartet PP556

by Joanne James29. August 2021 09:00

Today it's Sunday and time for this week's new challenge over at The Paper Players! It's the turn of the fabulous Jaydee to host this week and since it is the fifth Sunday of the month we have a tic-tac-toe challenge for you to work with:

I was spoilt for choice this week! In the end I decided to follow the diagonal and go with florals/diecut/square card and use four of the colours on the Color Dare palette to create a card to showcase my favourite Floral Squares Dies from the annual catalogue - take a look:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

Three of the colours in the Color Dare palette feature in one of my favourite plaid designs in the now retired Plaid Tidings DSP from this time last year, but I still have some left so decided it would make a great frame to surround a central square showcasing each of the Floral Squares Dies. I backed each of my squares in the corresponding solid colour and stamped a two-part sentiment in Cajun Craze that finishes inside my card:

My card also features the retired in-colour Pretty Peacock, but it looks so good with those autumnal browns and yellows I just couldn't resist:

This card could be easily recreated with other papers or colours though, so if you don't have these ones in your stash, get creative with what you have!

Here is the visual summary of the key products used on today's project for you to pin for easy reference:

You can see all of my Product and 'How To' summaries on my 'How To - Tips and Techniques' Pinterest board in case you've missed any.

Before you reach for your ink and papers, check out what our amazing team has created to inspire you this week:

Here's a quick recap of our challenge rules:

1.  Create a new paper project
2.  Upload your creation to your blog with a link back to us and provide a direct link to the post featuring your challenge submission.
3.  Please link your card to no more than four challenges, TOTAL.
4.  Have FUN!

You can see all of my 'How To' summaries on my 'How To - Tips and Techniques' Pinterest board in case you've missed any.

Enjoy your day; we have a long weekend here in the UK so will be making the most of the last public holiday before Christmas. The forecast is good - it might even be BBQ weather! I'll be back tomorrow with another project. Until then, happy stampin'!

Beautiful colors, Joanne! This is one of my favorite plaid papers. I think I still have a couple of pieces of it in my stash. The square configuration sets off these delightful die cuts perfectly.  LOVE it! Have a wonderful week!

This is a very clever card. I like how you have kept the backgrounds of the flowers plain to work against the busy (but lovely) plaid base. Thanks for playing along with Color My Heart Color Dare. X

I love seeing this DSP still being used!  I still have some left as well and this is so cute with the colors being the backing to the diecuts!  And you've got the 'square' element covered! Have a great week!

Fabulous autumnal maximalism Joanne! I adore those plaid papers (and have just paid through the nose for some because I didn't get them last year when I should have!!) and I like the way you picked out colours for your die cut backgrounds. Vicky x

Joanne, I love how you pulled out each of the colors from the plaid for your square panels.  The white flowers and frames allow the eye to rest and that sentiment is perfect for your die-cut images.  Thanks for rocking my challenge this week

I love how the colors in each square pick up the colors of the pretty plaid background! What a beautiful look! I love the inside too with that great dual sentiment! Beautiful card!

That DSP pack is one of my favorites! I stocked up on it so this is wonderful inspiration to get it out again. Love the fall colors and that you went with a square card for this challenge. So pretty!
