Layers of Beauty Anniversary Card PP710

by Joanne James6. October 2024 08:00

Today it's Sunday and time for this week's new challenge over at The Paper Players! It's the turn of my dear friend, the fabulous Jan, to host this week and she has a theme challenge for us to work with:

May be an image of text

I wanted to try something else new with my Layers of Beauty set, so decided to use the soft colour palette at Colour Inkspiration which I thought would work nicely for an anniversary card and set to work. This is what I came up with:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

I cut a whole bunch of strips 5mm wide in each of the challenge colours, including strips in a variety of designer paper and glimmer paper that coordinated, and glued them diagonally to a panel and added to the front of my card. I heat embossed the main image in the 'Layers of Beauty' stamp set in white on vellum and added it to my striped panel and secured it beneath the vertical panel on the left hand edge, onto which I stamped my sentiment. The vellum layer softens the colours and detail of the stripes whilst highlighting the embossed detail:

I added a sprinkle of purple faceted gems to complete my card. I love the interest that the stripes add and I think this is a great alternative method of adding colour to the Layers of Beauty stamp. A brief interlude between autumn and Christmas projects with these fresh, mostly pastel colours too.

Here is the visual summary of the key products used on today's project for you to pin for easy reference:

Here's a quick recap of our challenge rules:

1.  Create a new paper project
2.  Upload your creation to your blog with a link back to us and provide a direct link to the post featuring your challenge submission.
3.  Please link your card to no more than four challenges, TOTAL.
4.  Have FUN!

Enjoy your day; I have been having a rare child-free weekend as the youngest of the James Juniors has been away on a school field trip to study sand dunes amongst other things. Its amazing how many things you get done without a Saturday sports fixture, especially when the day stays dry for once! I'll be back tomorrow with another project. Until then, happy stampin'!

Joanne, this is gorgeous!  It had to take a bit of time to cut all those strips.  The pattern you created is gorgeous!  The strips of glimmer at so much shine!  The embossed flowers are stunning!  Just a gorgeous card and the color combo is so pretty!  Have a great week!

How very clever this card is! Firstly, I'm in awe of your patience in creating the strippy background. Secondly, how clever to think of creating a vellum overlay like this. Also, thank you for joining in at Colour INKspiration - it's always a pleasure to have you play along. Smile

First, you amaze me with your patience---gluing all those strips must have really been "fun"!  But the end result is fabulous! It looks great behind that pretty embossed vellum!  This is a favorite technique...so sad they got rid of vellum! Frown

Beautiful, Joanne! The background you created from the variety of papers and colors is amazing. What a fun technique! It's such a lovely background for the vellum flowers. I love the sentiment stamped vertically on the side. Well done!

Creating a background with die cut stripes is time consuming but well worth the effort when it comes to looking as beautiful as your results!   I especially like that you added glitter cardstock and the embossed vellum is so delicate and pretty on top.  Gorgeous card, Joanne!

Joanne,
I just love that embossed floral front panel - just gorgeous.  Your card reminder me of a pack of love hearts - wow that took me back some years.  It's fabulous to see those gorgeous colors at this time of the year.
