by Joanne James23. October 2021 09:00Hurrah, it's the weekend! Anyone else feeling like that today? Today I'm sharing a super simple, one layer card for the following challenges:
Never one to shy away from the challenge of a one/no layer card, I decided to pair my entry for the autumnal one-layer theme over at Less Is More with the lovely colours over at Colour INKspiration. I haven't played along there for a while but I love their colour combo of browns with an aqua blue and warm yellow. I decided to make another card with my 'Enjoy The Moment' stampset that I used earlier this week - take a look:
Here's the low-down on today's card:
I stamped a row of circles in alternating challenge colours using the 'Textures and Frames' stamp set from the recent Sale-A-Bration promotion, and stamped over this with a variety of seed pods and seed heads from the 'Enjoy The Moment' stamp set in Early Espresso, masking the edges so that they didn't go outside of the background circles. I added some scored lines above and below my stamped images for added definition, then finished with my sentiment below:
Layering stamped images is a great way to add colour and create depth without the need for layers and these seed heads are so perfect for an autumnal card. This card really is #SimpleStamping at its best - nothing more than stamps, ink and paper. What are you going to stamp today? Do leave me a comment below - I'd love to know.

Enjoy your day; I am off to the hockey pitch for some spectating so will be wrapping up warm against the chillier temperatures we've been experiencing the last few days; I think it may be time for the big coat!! I'll be back tomorrow with my card for out new challenge over at The Paper Players. Until then, happy stampin'!

by Joanne James18. October 2021 17:23Happy Monday everyone! I had a little time today to work on some future projects, and following a lunch time walk with the eldest of the James Juniors who is on half-term break already, where we admired the falling conkers and autumnal leaves, got a little side-tracked into creating a card on my return using this week's Color Throwdown colour palette:
I really loved this mix of browns and aqua and took the opportunity to use some items that haven't gotten much love lately - take a look:
Here's the low-down on today's card:
Enjoy The Moment - I really like the detailing on the seed heads in the 'Enjoy The Moment' stamp set and had it on my desk for another project, but couldn't resist another card with then in these colours. Found on page 26 of the annual catalogue, this is a great set for autumnal cards and works well in neutral colours.
Everyday Label Punch - After stamping and colouring each of my images, I punched them out with my Everyday Label Punch, as I realised I hadn't used a punch on a card in ages and this label punch is super useful for both tags and cards alike.
Cork Border - Did you notice the strip of cork paper I added beneath the gingham behind the punched pieces? This is some of the new cork specialty paper that is featured in the current mini catalogue. It's great for adding texture without bulk and really easy to cut with your paper trimmer. You can see it more closely on this image:
A little stamping on the inside completes my card:

Enjoy your day and I'll be back tomorrow with another project for this week's new challenge over at CAS Colours & Sketches. I am also the Featured Designer over at The Color Throwdown this week so be sure to come back for another post featuring their new colours on Wednesday. Until tomorrow, happy stampin'!

So here it is - the card that I actually intended to blog today! This card was inspired by a number of challenges: the colours over at CAS Colours and Sketches, along with this week's CAS(E) This Sketch layout. It's also a great example of #SimpleStamping as it uses nothing more than stamps ink and paper which also just happens to be the theme of the challenge over at Just Add Ink this week:
What's more, this card is a sneak peek of a brand new Stampin' Up! stamp set that will debut in the 2021 Spring-Summer seasonal catalogue - take a look:
Here's the low-down on today's card:
For those of you that follow me on social media, you will know that I attended the bi-annual Stampin' Up! Onstage event this past weekend, which because of Covid, was held virtually online, with some of my team #OnstageAtHome2020. We had a great time and as always it was still exciting to get a first view of the new catalogue and play with some of the new products. I received a new stamp set called 'Enjoy The Moment' in my Onstage swag bag and whilst I don't usually blog cards with new sets this far in advance of catalogue launch (I don't like to be too much of a tease!) I really like this stamp set and I thought it was perfect for the above challenges. I simply watercoloured 4 ovals using the challenge colours onto some Fluid 100 watercolour paper and then using my Stamparatus, I stamped four of the seed pods over the top of each one, stamping a few times to get them nice and black. I stamped my sentiment in black onto a strip of Bumblebee cardstock and added it to my card with dimensionals to finish. A great example of #SimpleStamping - sometimes stamps, ink and paper is all you need!
So what do you think? Have I wet your appetite for the new catalogue?! There are still a couple of months before it launches, so rest assured won't be tempting you too much at this stage. The only way you can get it sooner is to join my team - do get in touch if you really can't wait! Either way, I will be firmly back to Christmas cards tomorrow!
