Paper Florist Sweet Daisy Card

by Joanne James26. March 2024 20:27

Today I've a quick post to share a clean and simple card that was inspired by the cute daisy in the photo over at Inspired By this week and the code word over at Addicted to CAS - Bloom:

There's something about that smiley daisy that made me want to recreate it for a sunny notecard - this is what I came up with:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

I chose a pale Lemon Lolly background inspired by the background cushion in the photo, then set about recreating my daisy using a petal from the Paper Florist Dies set and a flower centre using a circle from the Stylish Shapes Dies. My smiley face is courtesy of the (retired) 'Cute Fruit' stamp set and my sentiment is from the 'Sweetest Cherries' stamp set. I fussy cut the word 'sweet' and popped it up on dimensionals:

Super simple but so cute and I know just the person to send it to!

Here is the visual summary of the key products used on today's project for you to pin for easy reference:

You can see all of my 'How To' summaries on my 'How To - Tips and Techniques' Pinterest board in case you've missed any.

Enjoy your evening and I'll be back tomorrow with another project. Until then, happy stampin'!

Ice Cream Sweet Birthday Wishes PP652

by Joanne James6. August 2023 08:00

Today it's Sunday and time for this week's new challenge over at The Paper Players! It's the turn of the fabulous Claire to host this week and she has a fun theme challenge for us to work with:

It is more like winter here in the UK at the moment, with rain and chilly winds and generally quite miserable weather-wise, so it was great to see the warm summer colours and images on the badge for Claire's theme this week - so there will be summer vibes inside, even if not outside! My card today features a staple of summer - ice cream, although I can eat it all year round, to be honest! My summer ice-creams were inspired by the cones in the Inspired By photo this week - mine are not in an upturned tower though, instead they are filled with colourful ice cream - take a look:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

With no current stamp sets featuring ice cream, I had to get creative! These fun ice cream cones were fussy cut from the Les Shoppes designer series paper, curved with my bone folder then layered onto my Very Vanilla cardbase. I paired them with a stamped sentiment from the 'Sweetest Cherries' stamp set, stamped in Calypso Coral and Balmy Blue with the 'sweet' fussy cut and positioned across the cones:

I added a sprinkling of sequins for a little extra summer sparkle to complete my card, which I'm also linking up over at the Alphabet Challenge Blog where the current challenge is 'I is for ice cream'.

Life Is Sweet If You Are A Roller Skating Emu

by Joanne James21. June 2023 09:20

Today I'm sharing a card that was inspired by a new-to-me word that Time Out Challenges introduced me to:

I used the layout from Sketch Saturday to make my card that totally sums up the meaning of the word 'sportive' to me - take a look:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

What could be more playful and lighthearted than a roller skating emu, I wonder?! Whilst I'm not sure roller skating is considered a 'sport', it's certainly fun. I fussy cut my emu from the Zoo Crew designer paper and paired him with some Lemon Lolly stripes and an oversize sentiment from the 'Sweetest Cherries' stamp set:

A stitched frame and trio of Lemon Lolly solid gems complete today's card. This card makes me smile! I might even send it to one of my oldest friends, who one summer spent our entire summer vacation trying to teach me to roller skate. She was so good at it and even after 6 weeks of what felt like daily practice, I still had all the hallmarks of Bambi on wheels, but we had so much fun in the process it didn't matter. Happy childhood memories!

Remember - today is free shipping day! If you are looking for something to pop in your shopping basket, I would highly recommend a pack or two of the Bright & Beautiful designer series paper - it's so versatile and I've used lots of mine already!

Enjoy your day; I am out and about as both James Juniors have exams today. I'll be back tomorrow with another project. Until then, happy stampin'!

Clean and Simple Sweetest Cherries CCS501

by Joanne James3. January 2023 13:00

It's Tuesday and time for our first challenge of the new year over at CAS Colours & Sketches. We are changing things up in 2023: we are welcoming a new trio of designers to our permanent team - waves to Lucy, Rachel and Sue - and whilst we will keep our format of colour, sketch and double challenges, our challenges are moving from a weekly to a fortnightly schedule, so even more time for you to participate! The super-talented Michal is hosting the month of January and our first challenge is a colour challenge:

For my card today I decided to leave behind the excesses of the festive season and start the year with some fresh fruit - take a look:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

This week's colours reminded me of morello cherries, so I grabbed my 'Sweetest Cherries' stamp set from the annual catalogue and stamped a pair of juicy fruits, blending my colours on the stamp with a sponge dauber before stamping, then fussy cut them, along with the word 'sweet' which I stamped in Blackberry Bliss, and added these with dimensionals to a white card base trimmed with a piece of Cherry Cobbler designer paper from the Regals pack.

I stamped the first part of the sentiment directly onto the card base, and finished the sentiment on the inside with another cherry to decorate:

A great #simplestamping project to get you started with your new year crafting - and one of your '5 a day' too! I'm also linking today's project up over at TGIF Challenges where they are 'keeping it simple'.

You can see all of my 'How To' summaries on my 'How To - Tips and Techniques' Pinterest board in case you've missed any.

As a reminder, for our colour challenges, you must use all of the stated challenge colours. You may also use neutral colours; however, the challenge colours should be the most noticeable ones featured on your card. We use Stampin' Up! color names for reference, but you are welcome to use any other companies' products as long as you match the challenge colours as closely as possible.

Enjoy your day and I'll be back tomorrow with another project. Until then, happy stampin'!
