by Joanne James12. November 2021 12:00Today with my second post I'm sharing my design team card for our new challenge over at As you See It where it's time for a recipe challenge:
I used Linda's fabulous sketch over at Freshly Made Sketches this week for my card layout and went for a really clean design for my card today - take a look:
Here's the low-down on today's card:
Layering Hugs - The Layering Hugs Dies are perfect for the central one word sentiment on the front of my card today. I cut the background floral diecut in white and then added the individual letters of the word HUGS in Crumb Cake in the same colour as the base. Neutrals? Check. Diecut? Check. One Word Sentiment? Check.
A Subtle Texture - I used the Tasteful Texture Embossing Folder to add texture to my card base layer; the detail is subtle but with the focus on neutrals, it adds an element of interest to this otherwise very clean and uncluttered card. You can see the detail slightly better on the photo below:
Embossing folder? Check.
Finishing Touches - The last element I needed to incorporate into today's design was ribbon or twine. I debated adding a bow, but eventually decided that I would add a simple trio of linen thread and white baker's twine across the centre of my card instead. It emphasises the horizontal sentiment, which is more faithful to Linda's sketch since I stretched my sentiment focal point beyond the skinny visual. I hope she likes it! Ribbon or Twine? Check. That's my recipe complete!

Here's a summary of our challenge rules:
- Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D project or packaging project that fits the challenge.
- Please include the challenge graphic and link back to the challenge in your blog post. Turn off word verification so we can leave you lots of lovely comments. Make sure you link the post not the whole blog to the Linky. Use #AYSIXXX when uploading to a public gallery.
- If you’re unsure about ‘the rules’, check the details under the Challenge Guidelines tab on the As You See It Challenge homepage.
We look forward to seeing your creations in the AYSI gallery.
Enjoy your day and I'll be back tomorrow with another project. Until then, happy stampin'!

by Joanne James17. June 2021 17:00It's Thursday and time for a new challenge over at TicTacToe! It's the turn of Team X to host this week and the lovely Felicita our fearless leader is our featured designer this week. This is the fun board that we are playing along with:
I went with the first column with Friendship/Any Colour/Sentiment and decided to make a set of cards for my in-colour club using one of my favourite new bundles - take a look:
Here's the low-down on today's card:
Sending Hugs - This is the second time I've used the Sending Hugs bundle - you can see my previous card here. Today's card is similar in layout, but today I went full-on monochrome, stamping the large floral cluster tone-on-tone before adding my diecut sentiment. This is a great way to use this stamp set if you don't want to do a lot of colouring of the individual elements.
Layering Hugs Dies - The Layering Hugs Dies are so beautiful and really do all the work on this card to turn it into something special. I paired my 'HUGS' with a stamped 'sending you', this time cut with a little label die that also comes in the set - so useful! How pretty is the layering on this card?
In-Colour Club - Whilst Fresh Freesia is my personal favourite of the new 2021-23 In-Colours, I made this card in each of the new in-colours to include in last month's In-Colour Club packs. Here are some of the other colourways (minus Soft Succulent):
Do you have a favourite new in-colour? Do leave me a comment below - I'd love to hear your thoughts.

A tictactoe board offers so many creative possibilities - how does this week's board inspire you? Why not have a go? We would love to see you in the gallery and who knows - you might be selected for Designer's Choice and be eligible to be a guest designer on a future challenge.
Enjoy your evening; I'll be back tomorrow with another project. Until then, happy stampin'!

by Joanne James3. June 2021 11:00Today I'm sharing a card for the current challenge over at Fab Friday that celebrates Stampin' Up!'s new 2021-23 in colours:
It also gave me the opportunity to play along over at TGIF Challenges this week as they are all about the Blends - love me some Blends!! I've been trying to find time to play along for over a week and had my idea ready, but life - and sunshine! - just got in the way! I couldn't resist going with the whole collection of colours on my card - take a look:
Here's the low-down on today's card:
Sending Hugs - The 'Sending Hugs' bundle was one of the first on my new catalogue wishlist. With a variety of sentiment possibilities and everything from simple stamping to stepped-up card possibilities if you include the dies, along with some great colouring opportunities, this is the kind of set that appeals to me. On today's card I used both the large 'hugs' stamp and the large die overlay and individual letters to create my card. Check out the lovely effect of the layering:
2021-23 In Colours - This year's in colour collection is a winner! Whether used individually or as a collective, these colours co-ordinate beautifully and alongside the existing Stampin' Up! colour families. This year's colour launch came with a fun quiz to determine which colour you most identified with; mine came out as 'Evening Evergreen' but on reading the descriptions I think I'm much more a 'Fresh Freesia'! If you would like to find out what colour you are, then hop on over to my Facebook page and have a go!
Beautiful Blends - I love a spot of colouring and this stamp is great for those who like to colour but don't consider themselves particularly skilled in the art. With lots of small areas, you don't have to be an expert at blending to get a good result. It works in loads of colourways and I am especially pleased that all of this year's new in colours have a Blends combo too!

If you're a fan of these in-colours and would like to add them to your collection, then my In-Colour Club may be of interest to you. You can read all about it here and I do still have one spot remaining in one of my clubs so if you would like to join, then do get in touch.
I like this card so much I have adapted it for the cards that will go out with my in-colour club this month - I will share those with you another time.
Enjoy your day and I'll be back later with another project - this week's card for our new challenge over at TicTacToe. Until then, happy stampin'!
