Something Lacy Congratulations Card

by Joanne James12. May 2015 21:32

I've had a busy couple of days with this month's classes (hence no blog post yesterday - I'm sorry about that!) so today I thought I would share with you one of the cards we made. This month's technique class has focused on using background stamps and our chosen feature stamp set was the lovely 'Something Lacy'. The class also featured heat embossing and this card shows how coloured embossing powder adds a real touch of luxury to a card:

For our Blushing Bride monochromatic wedding card, we stamped the Something Lacy background stamp in Versamark and heat embossed with Blushing Bride embossing powder. This panel was wrapped with some White satin ribbon before adhering the Blushing Bridge cardstock base. A couple of layered labels cut with the Big Shot and Labels framelits were then added, with the sentiment chosen from the now retired 2015 Sale-A-Bration set 'Simply Wonderful', which was also heat embossed. A few pearls and punched flowers, along with a big bow, finish my card. This card has a lovely sheen in real life that really isn't captured in the photograph and the monochromatic colour scheme is so very pretty.

The 'Something Lacy' background stamp is available until the end of the current seasonal catalogue on the 2nd June and isn't carrying over into the annual catalogue, so if it's on your wish list, you only have a couple of weeks left to purchase. The Labels Framelits are retiring and have already sold out, however Blushing Bride embossing powder is still in stock and half price, so there's still time to snap up a bargain!

That's all from me today; back tomorrow with another project and this week's Wednesday Weekly Deals. Until then, happy stampin'!

Mr & Mrs Wedding Card CCMC301

by Joanne James4. May 2014 20:57

I have a few wedding cards to make for a number of forthcoming nuptials and when I saw the sketch over at Create with Connie and Mary this week I knew it would be perfect for one of the cards I had in mind. Here is this week's sketch:

My wedding card needed to be Whisper White, Marina Mist and silver as I wanted it to reflect the wedding stationery which had been made by the mother of the bride a good friend and customer of mine. Here is my card:

It is very simple as I wanted my silver heat-embossed 'Mr & Mrs' to take centre stage and I layered my centre panel on dimensionals on a piece of brushed silver cardstock, both of which were cut out using the labels framelits. I turned the sketch around through 180 degrees, as I wanted my embellishment to be a silver glimmer butterfly and it looked better top right than bottom left and I used a piece of silver taffeta ribbon to create a band around my Marina Mist mat. Very simple but like the original wedding stationery, very elegant and with just a hint of sparkle.

If you'd like to see more great design inspiration for this sketch, check out what the CCMC design team have been up to - there are some great interpretations over there this week.

Back tomorrow with another card;; until then, happy stampin'!

Remember When...?

by Joanne James13. June 2013 22:37

Last night's card class was fun as always but too late for a blog post and today has been another busy day making birthday cards for the young lady of the house and some Father's Day cards, ahead of the big birthday weekend. I'll share these in the next few days, but meanwhile tonight I thought I'd share the last of the Golden Anniversary cards I made recently. This one is quite different to the previous two; instead of leading with a 50th Anniversary sentiment, I used one of the stamps from the retiring Word Play set as the focus:

I've never used this stamp before, as it never seemed right for anything I was designing. I have toyed with using it as a feature stamp on a scrapbook page (a project for another time though!) then as I was thinking about what it would be like to celebrate 50 years of marriage myself (believe me, that is a LONG way off!) and it struck me how appropriate this stamp would be for a milestone anniversary card - 50 years is a lot of memories!

I decided to use white and brushed gold cardstock again and leave the layout quite simple, with Oval and Label Framelits making light work of the layered front. You can see the lovely gold embossing in this photo too - it adds a real shine. I finished the front with a fussy organza double bow then stamped the inside with my congratulatory anniversary message:

So that's all my Golden Anniversary cards for the time being - which one do you prefer? The other big news of the day is that registration for this year's Stampin' Up! European Convention opened today. Better still, this year convention is being held in Manchester in the UK. I've signed up already; if you would like to enjoy two days of stampin' fun from 22nd-23rd November, contact me for a chat about this and the other benefits being a Stampin' Up! demonstrator can offer.

Back tomorrow with another project - until then, happy stampin'!
