Cup Of Tea Get Well Soon PP628

by Joanne James19. February 2023 08:00

Today it's Sunday and time for this week's new challenge over at The Paper Players! It's the turn of the fabulous Claire to host this week and she has a clean and simple challenge for us to work with:

Isn't a cup of tea the cure for all ills? It is in my house, for sure! As such I reached for the 'Cup of Tea' stamp set and set about creating a soothing paper-based version for the perfect pick-me-up, using this week's Color Throwdown colours and the layout over at Hand Stamped Sentiments - take a look:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

Claire has chosen 'get well soon' as our theme however since it is clean and simple week, it's worth a reminder of what we at The Paper Players mean by Clean and Simple:

  • Minimal layers and embellishments
  • Plenty of open space, aka "white" space
  • Simple and uncluttered

I have taken a slight liberty with my card today - ordinarily I would have not included the dots & spots diecut layer, but I liked this additional detail, especially with the three panels, and it seemed a little too 'clean' without, so I decided to go with it! My card is otherwise simple and uncluttered, with minimal layers and embellishments, so that's all good.

I added a cup of tea, stamped and filled with flowers as the focal point for my card and added a couple of lemon slices and my fussy cut sentiment to finish:

If you are under the weather, I think this card would be the perfect way to send get well wishes.

Every Chapter Friendship Card FF112

by Joanne James24. June 2022 09:00

Today I have my card for the new challenge over at Festive Friday.

The challenge that we are celebrating this week is 'Alice In Wonderland Day' which is on 4th July. Remember the fun thing is that at Festive Friday you do not need to actually celebrate the occasion; your goal is to simply use three or more items from the inspiration list on your project. This week I used hearts, teacup and book and this is what I came up with:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

I knew I wanted to use the 'Every Chapter' stamp set for my card today (teacup and book - check!) and decided I would CASE Krista's layout over at Global Design Project #GDP348 too, so went on the hunt for some teacup-patterned paper for my background. The patterns in the Tea Boutique papers were too uniform to look right either side of my central panel, so I opted for some retired teacup paper from my stash instead. This then led me to use a similar colour palette to Krista's card too - double inspiration!

I did a partial stamp using only the top portion of my 'Every Chapter' stamp (masking out the words on the book spine), fussy cut it out and coloured it with my Stampin' Blends before popping onto a background made using one of the stamps from the new 'Cup Of Tea' set, where I separated each sentiment with a hand-drawn heart (hearts - check!) I added another heart to my teabag tag detail and a final sentiment from 'Lovely You' to complete my card.

Here is the visual summary of the key products used on today's project for you to pin for easy reference:

I'm also linking today's card up over at The Alphabet Challenge where they are on 'F is for Friendship' - this card will be headed to one of mine!

Tea Boutique Teapot Trio For CCS471

by Joanne James24. May 2022 12:00

It's Tuesday and time for a new challenge over at CAS Colours & Sketches. This week's challenge is a sketch challenge and Shannon has asked that we include a trio of any type of shape, surrounding a sentiment. Feel free to flip or rotate the sketch when making your card.

For my card today I decided to get fussy cutting for those three shapes on Shannon's sketch and I reached for my Tea Boutique papers and a couple of designs in particular that were inspired by the gorgeous pinky-reds and blues over at Sunday Stamps - take a look:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

I love the colour combinations in the Tea Boutique papers and decided to choose one panel for a background to 'frame' my white space in the centre and from another sheet I fussy cut a trio of teapots for my three shapes. Now I know fussy cutting isn't for everyone and these are a little fiddly, especially if you cut out the handle piece, but I find cutting quite relaxing and quite enjoyed choosing my pot designs and then cutting them out:

I allowed the handles of my teapots to overhang the white panel, with the thin white border around them helping them to stand out from the background. I added a little stamped tag for my sentiment, tied with some of the new Starry Sky in-color baker's twine. This is a little fussy for a CAS card and in hindsight I maybe should have stamped my sentiment straight onto the white panel, but it's done now so too late  - and I like it! :-)

Here is the visual summary of the key products used on today's project for you to pin for easy reference:

You can see all of my 'How To' summaries on my 'How To - Tips and Techniques' Pinterest board in case you've missed any.

So no need to hoard that new designer series paper - this is my call to 'get snipping'!

Enjoy your day and I'll be back tomorrow with another project. Until then, happy stampin'!

A Clean and Simple Cup Of Tea With A Friend CCS468

by Joanne James3. May 2022 13:00

It's Tuesday and time for a new challenge over at CAS Colours & Sketches.  We are into May and so a new month means a new hostess! This month it's the turn of Shannon and our first challenge is a colour challenge:

I also used the sketch layout over at Just Add Ink for my layout. Today's card is all about the new - well it is the Stampin' Up! annual catalogue launch day, after all! I used two new stamp sets and two new dies - take a look:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

A stitched circle courtesy of the Stylish Shapes Dies in Pale Papaya forms the backdrop for my sweet heat-embossed teacup brimming with flowers, courtesy of the new Cup of Tea bundle. A fussy cut sentiment from the 'Happiness Abounds' stamp set (I just love that script/font!) and a few in-colour gems complete my clean and simple card:

And that's all there is to it! Here is the visual summary of the key products used on today's project for you to pin for easy reference:

You can see all of my 'How To' summaries on my 'How To - Tips and Techniques' Pinterest board in case you've missed any.

As a reminder, for our colour challenges, you must use all of the stated challenge colours. You may also use neutral colours; however, the challenge colours should be the most noticeable ones featured on your card. We use Stampin' Up! color names for reference, but you are welcome to use any other companies' products as long as you match the challenge colours as closely as possible.

Enjoy your day and I'll be back tomorrow with another project. Until then, happy stampin'!
