Affectionately Yours - All About Copper

by Joanne James28. August 2016 10:00

It's Sunday and time for a new challenge over at The Paper Players! It's the turn of our fearless leader Nance turn to host this week and she has a great sketch for you to work with:

When I saw our sketch for this week, I knew that it would be perfect to showcase some designer series paper and I knew exactly which one! I've been saving this sheet for just such an occasion and by pairing it with another new product from the forthcoming seasonal catalogue I knew I had my card. Take a look:

How sparkly is that?! Here's the low-down on today's card:

Affectionately Yours - The Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper includes some colourful florals and two sheets that are embossed with copper. One of these is a monchromatic Crumb Cake base that is covered by an all over copper-floral pattern. I really wanted to feature this paper on its own on a card to really give it the opportunity to shine so today's sketch is perfect.

The Perfect Foil Mat - Did you spy the new product on my card? Yes, copper foil is coming in the new seasonal catalogue - woohoo! I am in love with this new copper foil and it was perfect as a mat for my patterned paper and embossed sentiment. The split in the top layer of the sketch allowed just a little bit more of this to shine through too - perfect. I just know I am going to use lots of this over the forthcoming festive season.

And Copper Thread Makes Four - As if copper DSP, copper foil and a copper embossed sentiment wasn't enough, I added a little twist of copper metallic thread to the end of my sentiment banner for a little extra decoration.

Here is the visual summary of the key products used on today's project for you to pin for easy reference:

You can see all of my 'How To' summaries on my 'How To - Tips and Techniques' Pinterest board in case you've missed any.

I liked this card so much, I actually made a couple more and some using a Crumb Cake/night of Navy colourway and the same design:

All I need now is to make a fancy box to put them in - a project for another day!

Just Beecause - Pun Intended

by Joanne James28. June 2016 07:00

Good morning lovely readers! I have a nice early post today, as I have a busy day ahead and managed amongst all my cooking and cleaning yesterday to make my card for today too. I decided to go with the sketch over at Pals Paper Arts today - such inspiring design team samples too:

PPA-306-June23

I decided to showcase another of the patterns in my favourite designer series paper pack, Affectionately Yours. Today's post comes with a warning: you might need sunglasses to view today's card, it is rather bright!!

Here's the low-down on today's card:

Just Beecause - I love a good play on words, so the 'Pun Intended' exclusive hostess set is perfect for me. Today I used the bee from this set and stamped him twice each time, once onto Daffodil Delight cardstock and once onto vellum. I fussy cut both pieces and attached the vellum wings to the yellow bodies, for a realistic feel. I then paired him with one of the two bee-related sentiments in this set - how fun!

Layering Squares - Each of my bees is grounded by a triple layered square, all cut using the new Layering Squares framelits. This helps them stand out from my busy background paper, whilst also following the sketch and uses my base colours, taken from the Affectionately Yours paper:

Add A Wink - I brushed my bees wings with clear Wink of Stella for added sparkle. Difficult to see in the photo (the thumbnail at the top of the post is the best opportunity) but I can assure you adds such a pretty sparkle in real life.

Enjoy your day; I'm off to prize giving awards ceremony at school this afternoon. Rebecca is making her final speech as outgoing Head Girl so I'm taking some tissues as I'm sure there will be a tear or two! I'll be back tomorrow with another project; until then, happy stampin'!

Affectionately Yours

by Joanne James4. June 2016 19:05

It's Saturday and the weekend! I've had a hugely productive day today, which has included collecting my brand new car - exciting stuff! I also have all-new products to share today, for my floral card using this week's sketch over at Stamp Ink Paper:

SIP Sketch Challenge 50 800

My card today features products from the Affectionately Yours product suite - take a look:

Isn't that just so pretty? (even if I say so myself!) Here's the low-down on today's card:

Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper - Ok, so you know how much I love (and hoard!) paper and I always get excited when there are new ones to choose from - well, this one is gorgeous! Bright pops of colour with Night of Navy and Crumb Cake having a starring role. The best bit though is that the two special sheets are copper embossed - I haven't used either of those on today's card - can't quite bring myself to cut into them yet! - but all in good time, they are too beautiful not to be showcased on a project!

In Love With Love And Affection - I used the Love and Affection stamp set on yesterday's card and I love the bold floral images that co-ordinate with the paper. Here I've stamped the individual elements in Night of Navy onto colours of co-ordinating cardstock and fussy cut them to create the floral bough that frames my sentiment circle.

And Washi Makes Three! - The Affectionately Yours suite also includes a set of co-ordinating washi tapes. After stamping my sentiment, i needed something to balance the flowers around my circle, so I taped some washi to some Whisper White cardstock and snipped a couple of banners. With a thick baker's twine bow in Cucumber Crush it was just what I needed to complete my card. It's quite difficult to tell on today's card, but the spotted one is actually metallic copper - it even made it onto the washi tape!
