A Little Bit Festive Ornamental Christmas

by Joanne James2. December 2024 09:00

Happy Monday! Today I've a nice quick clean and simple Christmas card to start the week that I made for a couple of challenges:

Addicted To CAS are looking for cards featuring ornaments and I used red, green, gold and baubles/ornaments from the Festive Friday inspo list for today's card - take a look:

Today's card couldn't be simpler: a strip of Night of Navy added to my Very Vanilla cardbase, picking up the colour from my trio of hanging ornaments that came straight from the A Little Bit Festive designer series paper pack. A diecut sentiment from the Joyful Sayings pack and a sprinkle of gold enamel gems complete my card:

And not a stamp in sight! These papers sure do make for great quick CAS cards.

Here is the visual summary of the key products used on today's project for you to pin for easy reference:

You can see all of my 'How To' summaries on my 'How To - Tips and Techniques' Pinterest board in case you've missed any.

Enjoy your day and I'll be back tomorrow with another project. Until then, happy stampin'!

A Little Bit Festive Quick Christmas Tree Card AYSI 337

by Joanne James22. November 2024 12:00

Today I'm sharing my design team card for our new challenge over at As you See It where it's time for a speed challenge chosen by Jan:

Trees offer us so many options and feature on so many different types of cards. I am still making Christmas cards and found the perfect answer to a quick card - take a look:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

A Little Bit Festive - It will no surprise to my regular readers that the time-saving hack for today's card was found in the A Little Bit Festive paper pack. The Christmas tree that is the focal point for today's card is a pre-printed panel that was ready to go - I just pushed it out of the paper sheet and done! I couldn't leave it there though! I picked out the red and green colours in the design and added a couple of panels behind to add a little more interest and robustness to my card.

Joyful Sayings - My Christmas tree has a gold foiled star and that led me to one of the pre-diecut sentiments in the Joyful Sayings Ephemera pack for an impactful overlaid sentiment. I added it to my card with some snippets of dimensionals for a little lift and completed my sentiment with the only stamping (apart from the inside) to feature on today's card with the word 'happy' from the 'Greetings of the Season' stamp set:

I considered adding some gems to my finished card, but decided it against it, not on the grounds of time but more that I didn't want to clutter my clean design.

Christmas on Speed - The festive season is always a great time to have some quick and easy card making ideas to hand - so this week's challenge is definitely a timely one. How long did my card take today?

Six minutes exactly - woohoo! There are lots of other panels in the A Little Bit Festive paper pack that can be used for similar quick and easy cards.

Here is the visual summary of the key products used on today's project for you to pin for easy reference:

You can see all of my 'How To' summaries on my 'How To - Tips and Techniques' Pinterest board in case you've missed any.

Here's a summary of our challenge rules:

  • Create any card, scrapbooking page, 3D or packaging project that fits the challenge.
  • For a Speed Stamping Challenge you must tell us the time it took to make your project and it must be finished in under 10 min.

Season of Green and Gold Noel for CCS549

by Joanne James19. November 2024 13:00

It's Tuesday and time for a new challenge over at CAS Colours & SketchesThis week's challenge is a sketch challenge and Patricia has asked that we add a horizontal sentiment with a couple of areas of detail top and bottom:

Feel free to flip or rotate the sketch when making your card. For my card today I decided to create another Christmas card using my Golden Greenery bundle and coordinating products - take a look:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

NOEL - The Noel sentiment that I've used on today's card is a diecut straight from the Joyful Sayings Mix & Match Ephemera pack. I added it to a piece of gold foil and cut around the diecut to add a shadow layer, to help my sentiment stand out from the strip of designer series paper. The Joyful Sayings diecuts are so useful for adding quick sentiments to cards - a great standby during the festive season.

Season of Green & Gold - I used a piece of Old Olive and Very Vanilla gingham from the Season of Green & Gold designer paper as the base to highlight my sentiment and bordered it with a thin gold foil border to tie in with my overall design. I love gingham; it works on all types of card.

Golden Greenery - For the other elements of the sketch, I added some greenery and foliage from the 'Golden Greenery' stamp set, just adding the tips of the foliage so that it appears to be 'peeking out' from beneath the sentiment strip:

A few gold faceted gems complete my card. I'm also linking today's card up over at Inspire.Create where the theme is 'Christmas'.

Here is the visual summary of the key products used on today's project for you to pin for easy reference:

You can see all of my 'How To' summaries on my 'How To - Tips and Techniques' Pinterest board in case you've missed any.

As a reminder, for our colour challenges, you must use all of the stated challenge colours. You may also use neutral colours; however, the challenge colours should be the most noticeable ones featured on your card. We use Stampin' Up! color names for reference, but you are welcome to use any other companies' products as long as you match the challenge colours as closely as possible.

Enjoy your day and I'll be back tomorrow with another project. Until then, happy stampin'!

A Little Bit Festive Blue Wreath PP716

by Joanne James17. November 2024 08:00

Today it's Sunday and time for this week's new challenge over at The Paper Players! It's the turn of the fabulous Jaydee to host this week and she has a seasonal clean and simple challenge for us to work with:

With only 37 days to go until the big day, it certainly should be feeling a lot like Christmas about now! I used the sketch over at Sunday Stamps for the layout of my card this week and grabbed my A Little Bit Festive paper pack and set to work. Take a look at what I came up with:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

I added a Night of Navy panel to my white cardbase, then added a strip of navy and white gingham and a co-ordinating diecut wreath. A diecut sentiment from the Joyful Sayings pack and a few gold enamel dots and a gold twine bow to pick up on the gold splatters on the wreath complete my card:

Adding a colourful wreath to my front door is one of the first things I do at the start of the festive season and I think this card captures the spirit of the season perfectly. No stamping on today's card either, apart from the sentiment inside my card. Clean and simple, quick and easy - so I'm linking up over at The Alphabet Challenge Blog where they are on 'Q for Quick and Easy' too.

Here is the visual summary of the key products used on today's project for you to pin for easy reference:

A Little Bit Festive Poinsettia Card

by Joanne James1. November 2024 09:00

Happy Friday everyone! Today I'm sharing a card that uses the layout over at Try A Sketch on Tuesday as my starting point:

I'm still making Christmas cards and when I saw that large open oval I thought the double poinsettia in the A Little Bit Festive Mix & Match designer series paper pack would make the perfect centrepiece for my card - take a look:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

Isn't that double flower great? I paired it with some (retired) striped paper from Around The World, and overlaid my flowers with a diecut 'Joy' from the Joyful Sayings pack and added in some gold twine and enamel dots as accents:

This card is big on impact with those larger-than-life elements, yet was relatively quick and easy to put together; the combination of A Little Bit Festive Mix & match papers and the Joyful Sayings diecut sentiments are great for speedy Christmas cards.

Here is the visual summary of the key products used on today's project for you to pin for easy reference:

Enjoy your day: I'm out for dinner this evening since the young James Junior is staying at a friends for fireworks and a sleepover - what a treat. and I'll be back tomorrow with another project. Until then, happy stampin'!

A Little Bit Festive Oval Wreath And A Zentangle Birthday

by Joanne James27. October 2024 20:00

I had a super crafty day yesterday so I have a quick extra post with a couple of cards I made using some sketch challenges that are closing today:

The first is a Christmas card that uses the sketch over at Tuesday Morning Sketches and is a no-stamping-at-all card - take a look:

I used a diecut wreath from the A LIttle Bit Festive speciality paper pack (I used the offcut to decorate the envelope) and a foiled diecut sentiment from the Joyful Sayings pack. A few metallic gems and a simple gold twine bow were the finishing touches that complete my card:

My second card is for the challenge over at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge; I haven't managed to play along there in a while but since they are celebrating their 600th challenge sketch I had to play along. Not only that, the sketch was perfect for another zentangled circle creation featuring the Full Of Life designer series paper - take a look:

I added a panel of paper and a birthday sentiment from the 'Friends For Life' stamp set, separating the two with a black and white gingham ribbon bow:

A few black enamel dots complete my card. This card is heading to my nephew for his upcoming birthday - I think he will appreciate the modern design (the bow maybe less so!)

A Little Bit Festive Striped Wreath Christmas Card PP713

by Joanne James27. October 2024 08:00

Today it's Sunday and time for this week's new challenge over at The Paper Players! If you live in the UK I hope you enjoyed an extra hour in bed this morning as the clocks changed! It's the turn of the fabulous Ann to host this week and she has my favourite, a sketch challenge for us to work with:

I have another Christmas card to share with you today, which I'm also sharing with the team over at Inkspirational where they are all about seasonal cards, and this one is full-on traditional festive - take a look:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

A Little Bit Festive - The A Little Bit Festive specialty designer series paper is the big hitter on today's card: I used a sheet of the red and white striped candy cane panels for the base and one of the diecut wreaths as the backing for my sentiment. This paper is so great for 'one and done' cards, with pre-diecut pieces making light work of decoration. I couldn't stop there today though; in addition to adding in some extra diecut foliage and berries, I added a few other pieces too; for more information, read on!

Greetings Of The Season - I added a heat-embossed sentiment from the 'Greetings of the Season' stamp set to the centre of my wreath, in two parts in order to fit the whole sentiment without obscuring too much of the foliage:

Joyful Sayings - Since the sentiment on the sketch was actually at the bottom of the left panel, not inside the shape, I chose some words that would allow me an extra element instead of substituting something else here; I actually used one of the pre-printed Joyful Sayings elements - it works perfectly.

Here is the visual summary of the key products used on today's project for you to pin for easy reference:

You can see all of my Product and 'How To' summaries on my 'How To - Tips and Techniques' Pinterest board in case you've missed any.

I love the traditional festive look of today's card; what's your favourite kind of Christmas card design? Do let me know in the comments below.

A Little Bit Festive Joyful Sayings CCS 545

by Joanne James17. September 2024 13:00

It's Tuesday and time for a new challenge over at CAS Colours & Sketches. This week's challenge is a sketch challenge and Nancy has asked that we add any non-square shape and a sentiment banner:

Feel free to flip or rotate the sketch when making your card. For my card today I used another of the diecuts from the A Little Bit of Festive designer paper pack - take a look:

Here's the low-down on today's card:

I masked off a panel on my card and used my blending brush to add a strip of Cherry Cobbler ink, onto which I heat embossed part of my sentiment and then added a diecut element from the Joyful Sayings pack to complete my greeting. I used a pair of drums from my paper pack as my irregular shape:

That's all there is to it - super simple and another Christmas card for the pile.

Here is the visual summary of the key products used on today's project for you to pin for easy reference:
